Thai Peanut Turkey Burgers |
Move over, Greek-Flavored Turkey Burgers. There may be a new favorite in our household! While Cooking Light’s recipe has been a long-time favorite of ours, but I knew from the very first bite that tonight’s Thai Peanut Turkey Burgers were just as worthy of the top spot. It’s no surprise we loved these, since all-things-peanut generally rate high with us. This reminded us of Thai Chicken Pizza, since it also combines the peanut flavor with carrots, cilantro, and chili, only this is a bit easier to prepare and you get to enjoy it on a bun. Genius.
I found the recipe over at A Good Appetite, and made a few minor changes – basically just amounts of ground turkey, peanut butter, and ginger. I was a bit surprised that there was no cilantro in the recipe, since I always think of it as a natural compliment to the other flavors. So I made a chili-cilantro mayo to top the burgers. We enjoyed this with 5-spice roasted butternut squash fries. I have a good feeling we’ll be eating these again soon since we always seem to have the ingredients around, and because they are just so delicious!
Thai Peanut Turkey Burgers
Slightly Adapted from A Good Appetite
8oz ground turkey
1 medium carrot, shredded
1 large scallion, minced
1/4 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp chili garlic sauce
2 tbsp natural peanut butter
freshly ground salt & pepper
1/2 tsp ground ginger
2 tbsp light mayonnaise
handful of cilantro, finely minced
1-2 tsp chili garlic sauce
hamburger buns of your choice
mixed greens
Combine burger ingredients a mixing bowl and combine thoroughly. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Form the turkey mixture into two patties. Cook for about 7-10 minutes per side, until cooked through. Serve on buns with cilantro-chili mayo and greens.

Looks great! I’ll definitely try these at some point this summer! Perfect for preparing in bulk and freezing, so we can just grab two and toss on the grill when we’re too lazy to cook. π

We made these tonight and they were delicious! I added a little bit of diced red bell pepper to the burgers to add a little color. We didn't have any mayo so I used greek yogurt for the base of the sauce and it turned out pretty good. Thanks for such a great recipe!

Hi Sarah, To be honest, I'm not sure. I've made these burgers many times and have probably been through several brands of (natural) peanut butter. I currently have Trader Joe's brand in the fridge, but I have no idea if it has salt in it or not. Either one would be fine, and you can always omit extra salt from the recipe if you choose. Hope you like them!

Out of curiosity, what kind of natural PB did you use? We have two kinds, one with sea salt and the other with no salt. Which would you recommend?
