Harvest Turkey Burgers

Gobble Gobble. I’ve got a craving for fall! My sage, thyme, and rosemary plants are just bursting with aroma and begging to be used, and I finally decided to make the cranberry-goat cheese – turkey burgers that have been floating around in my head since… this time last year. These turkey burgers are a great way to introduce some fall flavors into my kitchen without long hours of simmering, braising, or other cooking techniques that dominate autumn (I’m excited for that too, just not ready to heat up the kitchen just yet!)

These burgers were delicious. But then, what’s not to love about sweet dried cranberries, tangy goat cheese, and those harvesty, earthy herbs? Sending it over the top, however, is a honey mustard laced with rosemary and chopped pecans. This added a wonderful flavor and texture. We enjoyed these burgers garnished with some baby spinach on whole wheat pita bread.

Simple Harvest Turkey Burgers

1/2 lb ground turkey
2 tbsp chopped onion
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1 oz crumbled goat cheese
minced fresh sage and thyme
salt and pepper

Mustard:
1.5 tbsp honey mustard
1 tbsp finely chopped pecans
minced fresh rosemary

Combine burger ingredients and mix well with hands. Form into two balls and grill over low heat, flattening after about 5 minutes on the first side. Try to cook them almost all the way through so that only one flip is required! Serve with pecan-rosemary-honey mustard.

Just tried these tonight. Very tasty. I substituted blue cheese for the goat cheese since that's what I had on hand.
