Gobble Gobble!

It’s Turkey Day in April! Turkey Burger day, that is. Some people who are just beginning to try out turkey in place of ground beef seem really weary of turkey burgers, and I don’t understand this. I have seen so many delicious-sounding recipes! I think they key is to choose a recipe that has it’s own unique flavor, not something that is trying to be a traditional hamburger in disguise. I have a favorite recipe for turkey burgers, and it is CL’s Greek-Flavored Turkey Burgers. I made them quite often in the summer and fall, but I have not seen much fresh mint at the supermarket lately. I decided to try another recipe, one I have seen posted on the Nest quite a bit – CL’s Cilantro Turkey Burgers with Chipotle Ketchup. These were delicious! And easy for my fiance to prep, since I get home late on Tuesday nights. I subbed shredded light cheddar cheese for the parmesan, and if I made them again, I would make the ketchup even spicier. I like to serve turkey burgers on whole wheat light hamburger buns (they only have about 80 calories!) for a guilt-free, delicious dinner. I suggest cooking over medium heat at most. I use a nonstick griddle pan coated with cooking spray, and drop rounded portions of turkey burger mix on the pan, then flatten with a spatula. I cover them with a large pot cover so that the steam keeps them moist while cooking. It is very important to cook long enough on the first side so they don’t break when flip – it might take a little practice! We ate this with roasted zucchini, summer squash, and red onion tossed with evoo, salt, pepper, and southwest seasoning. I’m glad to have another turkey burger recipe for the rotation!

I am the weary one you speak of, hehe. These look good though, and I will definitely be trying ground turkey after we move. Not the Greek ones, though. I just can’t do it. LOL

I recently modified the CL turkey burger recipes into meatloafs and they were amazing. Your burgers look wonderful!
