Langham Hotel Chocolate Bar Fall 2012

S’mores parfaits, Dark Chocolate Banana Meringue Tarts, Peanut Butter Mousse Tarts,
Opera Cake, Macarons, Boston Cream Pie

Who doesn’t love a little chocolate? Make that a lot of chocolate! When it comes to chocolate, I think you can never have too much of a good thing. And if you need to be sure of that, you must plan a visit to one of Boston’s best foodie features, the Chocolate Bar at Cafe Fleuri in the Langham Hotel.

Cinnamon spiced Pots de Creme, Assorted Cupcakes, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Fancy Hot Cocoa, Chocolate-Orange Mousse

Though I’ve been a few times in the past, it’s always been with my gal pals. Needless to say, my husband has been a bit jealous. Because let’s face it – real men relish bountiful pretty little chocolate delights.

Milk Chocolate Pistachio Layer Cake, Raspberry Chocolate Pots… and well, do you really think I can remember everything?

A real treat for me would be to be invited to the kitchen on prep-day, as the thousands of individually hand-crafted selections are carefully constructed. But alas, I only have the pleasure of eating. Which is still a great one, indeed. Even if you “don’t like sweets” I can’t imagine not being dazzled by the dozens of different desserts, ranging from white to milk to dark chocolate, and covering an array of traditional cookies and cupcakes to fanciful confections spiked with ingredients like citrus, olive oil, and cardamom. And if you just can’t make up your mind, or your sweet tooth still isn’t satisfied, there is a chocolate fountain, crepe station, and custom ice cream bar at your service.

White Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb, Almond Chocolate Mousse Torte, Espresso Pots de Creme, Dulce de Luche Parfait

I always suggest the chocolate bar to out-of-town or new-to-town friends who appreciate a special foodie experience, and to ladies looking for a unique way to celebrate a bridal or baby shower. And if you live locally and haven’t yet experienced the Chocolate Bar, I say any day is a reason to celebrate. And given that the Langham Hotel runs cheaper on the weekend (it’s mostly a business hotel located in the heart of downtown Boston) an even better idea is to make a little weekend getaway of it, hitting up the newly renovated spa as well. Chocolate and massages? That’s my idea of pampering.

The Chocolate Bar is located in Cafe Flueri in the Langham Hotel, Boston. It runs on Saturday afternoons from 11am-3pm, September-June. Reservations are recommended. A big thank you to Jonathan and the rest of the staff at the hotel for inviting us and making our experience a memorable one.
