Sunday Funday – February 5th, 2012

For a while I’ve been itching to start a regular weekly post where I share some stuff other than my own recipes. Honestly the only thing holding me back was picking a day and a clever title. Then all of a sudden, it came to me! Not that “Sunday Funday” is anything original, but it sure seemed fitting.

And it just feels like perfect timing to start today, on what is the ultimate Sunday Funday, otherwise known as Superbowl Sunday!

Not that this post has anything to do with football. Maybe I’m being a little self-indulgent, but I thought you might be interested in other things besides my recipes. I don’t know exactly what this post will contain, but I hope it’s a mix of fun things going on in my life, my favorite pins from the previous week, crafty projects (if I ever have the time for them) or whatever tickles my fancy. Sound good?

Let’s get this started with something fun. A couple weeks ago I announced that I’d be presenting at Nourished, a conference for special-diet food bloggers. The official agenda just came out so you can head over and see what all of us will be talking about. Who’s “us”? Here we are!

I’m still a little bit an awe to be pictured beside these amazingly accomplished folks. All the more motivation to step up and do an awesome job. Will you be joining us? There’s still plenty of time to buy your ticket!

If you’d like to know more about Nourished, join us for a Twitter Chat tomorrow night (Monday, 2/6) at 8:30pm EST. Presenter Ricki Heller will be talking about her topic, Beyond the #Gfree Diet. Follow @NourishedFBC to join in!

Did you like the pretty pink straws I used in my Strawberry Avocado Smoothies? Me too! I bought them from Etsy seller Hey Yo Yo. Check out her cute shop!

So what else is going on lately? I’ve been pinning up a storm! Can I see a show of hands of who’s on Pinterest? Or rather, who’s not? Oh, hey you guys. You should really come join the fun!

For those who have yet to start pinning, let me break it down. Pinterest is like a virtual bulletin board. You know all those fabulous ideas you see on the internet? Well, instead of bookmarking them or emailing them to yourselves, you can now tack them onto your virtual bulletin board. That’s calling “pinning”. Better yet, you can have separate boards to organize all these great ideas. Are you planning to redo your bathroom anytime soon? Stick all those gorgeous tile ideas onto your bathroom renovation board. Planning to make invitations for your little one’s birthday party? Throw those ideas on the paper crafts board. Are you in need of good ideas? If that’s the case you can simply browse Pinterest to see what other people are pinning. Or you can narrow it down by following your friends on Pinterest. Why? Because chances are that you probably like many of the same things as your friends, so you’ll enjoy seeing what they’re pinning.

The only caveat is that I believe you need an invitation to join. If that’s the case, feel free to leave a comment on this post saying that you’d like to join Pinterest and I’ll be happy to invite you.

Now that we’re clear, I thought I’d share some of favorite things that I pinned this week. Some of these were discovered from blogs that I read regularly or caught wind of on twitter, and others were found vie Pinterest itself. Either way, the fact that these ideas made it to one of my pinterest boards means I loved it a lot.

The internet was quite an inspiring place last week (or I had a lot of time on my hands) because I did a lot of pinning. In the interest of narrowing it down, I decided to go with a theme. Chocolate! Makes perfect sense, with Valentine’s Day coming up right around the corner. Obviously I’m not alone in thinking a lot about chocolate lately.

I’ve kept you in suspense long enough. Without further adieu, here are some of my favorite chocolate-themed pins from this week!
